So on my birthday I drive over to Richmond to pick up a friend at the airport. We’re driving back to Owl Creek when out of nowhere – dark night, no lights, new moon – this miscreant crosses my path from left to right and the inevitable happens. $6K of inevitable, plus towing fees and inconvenience. Thank goodness we stayed on the road and had no injuries.

This insufferable idiot out with no headlights, no tail lights, and of course no insurance. As near as I can tell, he just walked off scot-free. Doesn’t this make you angry? But I do know this malefactor’s first and last names and where he lives. As far as I’m concerned it is open season on this criminal and I’m going to make sausage out of him. So look out Mr. Odocoileos Virginianus, I’m comin’ after ya.

Be sure to get a nice big freezer and one of those meet dehydrators too. You'll get plenty of jerky for the winter!

You have to drive through the deer... In Maine we get to keep the animal, my brother's ex's father was an animal control officer. We processed over 30 over a 4 year period... she didn't like bucks so we got anything with antlers...

My brother had on run into the side of his Toyota pickup last year. 6000 damage as well, the had to replace fender, reskin the door and the bed on one side. Very expensive meat if you don't have comprehensive ins coverage, he does with 100 deductable

You can keep it in VA, too, as long as you notify the state patrol and the officer approves. If you don't want it, the state will harvest it give it to the food banks. This one was still moving, though I don't know for how long. But if he's still out there he's got my license plate imprinted on his side. Latest estimate is that there are currently twice as many deer in VA than there were in1607 when Jamestown was founded. Chances of hitting a deer in VA are quoted by the state as 1% per year.

I found him for ya' Colonist! He's standing in my front yard right now having breakfast along with 6 or 7 members of his family. My wife and I have had similar encounters with his kind (4 at last count) and one of my biggest fears is that someday I'll meet him with the roadster...I'm not really concerned about the car if that happens but rather that he'll try to get into the cockpit with me!

Is the season on where you are? You are welcome to him. Even if it's not open season there, use a crossbow and the neighbors will never know....

I'm glad we were in the car with high blunt nose -- our other choice was a car with a slopey nose, and that would have been a real disaster.
