I'd like to hear from folks who have installed a custom tuning in their Coyote to fix problems due to not using the stock Ford air box.

The Coyote in my Roadster is suffering from burbles and hesitations when I accelerate. I understand this is a known problem resulting from replacing the Ford air box with the air intake hardware FF specifies. I have been in touch with JMS Chip and Performance, a specialty shop in Mississippi that I learned about from an article in Hot Rod magazine about the Coyote engine. They sell a custom tuning and the SCT hardware to install it via the ODB port. They claim this will fix the problems I mentioned.

Is there anybody out there who has used the JMS technology on their Coyote?

thanks - David

There are tons of posts on the Coyote/Tuning category here. Keep scrolling down. You'll certainly get your answer over there.

Tom Coon here in California races a Type 65 Coupe with a Coyote that has the JMS tune and highly recommends them. I know of two others on the forums that have used the JMS tunes in their Coyote roadsters and also are extremely satisfied (oldguy68 I think is one). This is the direction I am heading when I get there.

Also if you are using the Spectre intake parts and MAF tube, make sure you have the 3.5" reducer installed in the 4" tube just behind the air filter. This is critical as if the whole intake tube is 4" to the throttle body it will definately run like crap.

Thanks for the comments on this. Bansheekev, my intake has the 3.5" reducer behind the air filter and this is where the air mass sensor is mounted. I'm going to go ahead and try the JMS tune and will report back.....

I have the JMS tune, easy to install, runs like a top.

Okay, I'm likely headed there also. What exactly is the JMS tune process/procedure? What does one have to do to install it?

Call them up. They need to know a couple simple things about your setup - mainly the distance from the throttle body to MAF sensor and the distance from head to O2 sensor. They sell the required SCT Tuner and will email you the tune.
