I was just wondering if there was anybody in the Ann Arbor Michigan area that had a type 65 coupe that I could sit in it just to get a feel for the leg room. I am contemplating purchasing one but I am weary about the amount of leg room and how comfortable the inside of the car is. I'm 6' 1" 225 lbs and don't want to be uncomfortable when driving I plan on driving it in the Hot Rod Power Tour. Thanks for the help.

You'll have plenty of room. I was the same weight and an inch shorter when I finished my Coupe. There are folks 6'5" who are comfortable in the Coupe.

Still, it's worth checking one out. Watch out though, you'll be looking for your phone to call as soon as you see it up close.

I'm about 3 hours south of Ann Arbor, you are welcome to come my way. I am 6 ft and 220lbs and I fit. Let me know if you are up for a road trip.

Green50,

I'm 6'1", 205 lbs, 33" inseam. I have the Kirkey low back vintage seats, mounted on the floor, all the way back and I have plenty of legroom. I can stretch my left leg out beside the pedals and be very comfortable. I can also wear a helmet with just a little headroom next to the headliner, but it's pretty close ... only an issue if you plan on doing track time. Noise is more of an issue than roominess. With the standard dual side pipes, you get a lot of resonance inside the cockpit. It's different in the roadster, where wind is the primary noise factor. In the coupe, the exhaust noise gets old after an hour or two ... the solution is ear plugs. I've also heard that the single side pipes that are available in the aftermarket also help with the exhaust noise.

Thanks for all the quick replies it does sound like I would be a will to fit in the car pretty comfortably. I definitely would be doing some track time in the car I race in SCCA Mustang now and was hoping that I possibly could race this car. Maybe in some vintage racing my dream is to race at Laguna Seca or Spa but I don't think I've ever make it to Spa I just don't have that kind of money.

My Dad and I have run the One Lap of America race in our coupe (3500 road miles in 8 days). I am 6'-0" 160# and he is 6'-1" 200 #. We have the kirkey high backs mounted on the floor all the way back. The hard part is getting in (we have door bars as well), but once in, there is a lot of room. For the long drives we put 3" open cell foam under our butts, and used noise canceling headsets for the noise.
