My 02 turbo down pipe is damaged and needs to be replaced. I'm thinking that I should stick with a catted pipe since there is no muffler. Maybe the cat will quite it down some. Any thoughts on how I should handle this?
Thanks mike.

Michael,
on the two cars I built, both had bell mouth down pipes and I only used the first 3-4" of pipe past the bell mouth. Then put a Vibrant 1142 muffler and they sound great.

Thanks Wayne. I see a bunch of cheap catless down pipes on Ebay. Maybe I will give one a try.

Under the new Massachusetts registration rules don't you need to show a receipt for a new cat, oxygen sensor and charcoal canister?

I have to use a CAT in Maine too

I'm going to at least dyno my 818S with the FFR adapter, stock downpipe, sounds fine with just a CAT

Longer term: bell mouth, high flow CAT, muffler, all 3 inch stainless

My donor came with a Cobb turbo back complete system. Everything looks new including the muffler. Can I just cut and weld that system for my build?

You can. Cobb is expensive stuff. Might be cheaper to sell it and buy an eBay downpipe and cut and weld that.
