so I got my CF aero pieces today and the spoiler is plain, black fiberglass. How are people finishing this? Thoughts on CF wrap? I ordered before it was determined to be plain fiberglass vs CF like the rest of the aero pieces.
I had hoped for CF splitter, diffuser, side extensions, mirrors and spoiler
white gel coat for majority of the body with orange accents, stripes, vents etc...
now a plain fiberglass spoiler just doesn't work in such a scheme
What is everyone else doing?
I found diffuser strakes, they are aluminum EDIT

Oh crap, this means I'll get it FB instead of CF. It weighs 10lbs in FB, but that will cut with the look of the rest of the aero I planed on having. FFR just updated the pix on their website regarding the spoiler, they used the red SEMA car.
Well I guess some CF wrap for me too, though it will never look as good as real CF, especially it's a piece easy to see (unlike front splitter and rocker extensions).

I have not seen the piece, but I do have experience wrapping a car. It would be almost impossible to make that look good. If you could get it to lay down right, it would take lots of heat and lots of steching. By the time you where done the pattern would be very distorted looking. Now watch someone prove me wrong.

I wish there would be both a FB and CF spoiler available (different price tags of course).

PS did not receive diffuser strakes, I understand that they are aluminum?
Yes, simple Al triangles, with a mounting flange bent in.

I may wrap mine, or paint it black, as I'm planning with my 'humps'. That could work... black above, cf below.

Hi guys it is very difficult to lay up the rear spoiler in cf ,the piece is to deep and the cf won't look good ,the weave will look bad and not uniform.........sorry!!! Tony@ffr

perhaps we can wrap both flat surfaces and do a contrasting vinyl over the "edge"

The red 818 has an old spoiler that is to short ,thats why it was cf...

mold in white vs black?

Well, I haven't really examined my spoiler or my splitter closely, but they both appear to be black and more or less shiny. I should think that anyone going with a basic white car with black trim items would be able to install them, polish them up, and just let them be. No paint required. But as I said, I haven't really looked that close. Maybe the gelcoat is not of finish quality?
Of course, if you are going to paint the car (and I'm leaning that way myself), it becomes just one (or more, if you want to do the splitter, diffuser and side pieces also) more item to squirt. Me -- I'll probably paint the spoiler and leave the splitter black. Didn't buy the other pieces.

the splitter, side rocker extensions and diffuser are surfaced with a layer of carbon fiber
the spoiler is black fiberglass, matching the windshield surround

That's what I'll do if I can't wrap it well enough, which may be the case.
I plan on black humps too!

Oh I see. No prob Tony, we'll live with FB. :) I think it's fair to say it's better in good FB than bad CF! :)

Use hydrographics on it, carbon fiber design.

It weighs almost nothing, even in fiberglass...

The OCC guys did a chopper in $100's for a repeat customer, amazing process.
I'll be checking it out

I don't like the fluid graphics carbon fiber. It looks like a 2D checker pattern, not a 3D weave.

Yeah, Wheeler Deelers used this process to faux cf the trim on a Range Rover. Also saw it on How it's Made. Pretty cool, I'll have to see if there's anyone in my area who does it.
Too bad I am not equipped like them. :)
