View Full Version : Steering Rack / Radiator Mount Issue

In order to mount my '06 steering rack, I had to follow the sequence for the 2002-04 mounting on the passenger side. If I didn't use the 0.21" spacer between the bracket and rack mount, it would severely distort the bracket.
Moving on to the radiator support. With the steering rack mounted, there is not enough room for the bolt to be inserted into the lower bolt (of the two) on the radiator mount... Anyone else have this issue or mind sharing pictures of how you have your radiator/steering rack bolts mounted?
Thanks!

You couldn't insert the bolt into the bolt? Lol
I made a custom aluminum mount for the passenger side and aluminum mounts for my radiator to raise it up. Otherwise the coolant hose elbow hits the steering rack bellows.

Haha. I left to go check something on the car mid sentence and didn't proof read... Haha. *not enough room for the bolt to be inserted into the lower bolt HOLE*...
I have zero issue with the coolant hose, as long as my Ron Davis radiator clears the hood...

Well, I got things to fit a LITTLE better. I took out the 0.21" spacer and it looks like that part should be fine. However, I'm still having clearance issues with the bolts from the steering rack and the radiator support.
This is a picture of the passenger side.

Mine is similar. I don't actually have the nut on the driver side yet (must have forgotten in all the on/off/on again I did of the rack). If you need to, grind teh bolt down. Keep the nut on it while grinding so you can remove it after grinding and straighten the burr that always forms at the end.

Thanks. I'll probably do that or see if a button head bolt would work.
