In case you were wondering what a scaled down GTM Supercar would look like - it's already been done.

Smyth Performance Inc. was created by Factory Five Racing founder/owner Mark Smith to be an alternative way for car enthusiasts and home builders to get a high mpg mid engine performance car they can build themselves and drive on a daily basis.

I'm guessing that the whole idea of the competition is to to end up other than the tried and true path.

Looks darn good to me, I like it better than the GTM which is just too flashy for me.

EDIT: Topless baby!

That red render doesn't look much like the final product tho. And that car no longer has the GTM rear. Really, the final product to me looks nothing like a smaller GTM.

Not really a fan of the GTM styling but would rock this render any day all day if this was the 818.

The red rendering looks too Ferrari to me, but overall it does have good proportions. I think the rear overhang would need work to cover up the tail of the Subaru transaxle.

I wonder what a convertable/roadster version would look like? With the roofline being a strong design key on the redering, I think it will look terribly un-proportioned if the roof was gone.

Is the G3F intended as a 2+2? With the inline VW motor, it almost seems as if the rendering has rear (kiddy) seats.

No, its not, to the apparent dismay of some of the fans on G3F 'forum' (and, I imagine, delight of others).

The G3F is in fact a Roadster with a hardtop. Pictures of the in development prototype have been posted on here someone, so you can indeed see what that rendering looks like sans roof.

There is a small back seat area, evidently big enough for very small children. The roof asn windshield from that rendering was photoshopped from a 911 and grafted onto a shortened GTM. Looked good:)
