I used the Lokar e brake handle on my mak3 with standard fox body rear drums. There is not enough leverage to adequately engage the brakes. Any ideas for a fix? I seem to remember an old thread on this but haven't been able to locate.

I've been studying this for a couple weeks and I'm going to use 33ratrod's solution (post #9).
Does anyone sell a kit to relocate the e-brake handle? ((http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/281082-does-anyone-sell-kit-relocate-e-brake-handle.html ))

not enough leverage as in the shoes arent being pushed out enough against the drum? thatll happen if your starwheel isnt adjusted out enough. im sure youve investigated that though but sometimes its the simple things. check your parking brake cables adjustment. maybe theres too much slack in it

This has been an issue many have experienced when switching to the Lokar handle. It has nothing to do with the star wheel or slack, it has to do with the short handle and where it is and not enough leverage to put enough pressure on the pads. This is why many, including myself, have installed a pulley to help increase the pressure on the pads.

All modern cars have redundant braking systems, and total brake failures have become so rare that the parking brake is seldom used...
