Hello from Franklin, MA. For starters, what brings me here is a dream. Well isn't that what brings most of us here anyway? For years I have had a dream of one day owning something completely out of this world. My true dream car has always been a Ford GT. But considering only 4500 where produced and demand vastly outnumbers supply, it's unlikely I'll ever own one with such a high price tag. Gosh are they a dream to come by at the car shows though. The closest I could likely reach to owning a GT would be the GT40 replicas. There prices are within reason and for years that's been my dream. But lately I've been bitten by F5 and I'd say I've been converted to proffering to own a GTM. Is there anything wrong with the 40 replicas? No, not really. I think there kind of small honestly. And not to mention a little less modern looking than the GT or any modern supercar. But anyway, back to the GTM. I've always liked them but the longer they've been in my mind the more I have come to liking them. I've run into one at a car show and the owner kindly let me sit in it. Gee was that ever a treat! However I'm unsure if I should buy the GTM kit from F5, or buy one already complete and skip the whole headache of building. Could I build one? I'm fairly confident I could. I worked 2 years in a garage and completed GM's Automotive ASEP Program. I should have the skills to be able to tackle the job. However I wont ever quite know for sure until I actually stepped up to the plate, look at the build manuals, and start the task. What I don't want to end up happening is order a kit, then realize I have bit off more than I could chew. Honestly I think I'll just buy one already completed. I just don't want to deal with the hassle of building, not to mention the countless hours involved. But before I do any of this, I got to go through a few life milestones first. I've got to get my career in gear after I earn my Bachelors degree, and buy a new car as I'll be in need at some point in the future. Those will both eat at my GTM savings. But once all is said and done I'll have a better job and my savings should grow a little quicker. If I were to build one though I think I'd like it in some shade of maroon with chrome rims. I'm undecided if the roof should be black or not. But none of those things truly matter to me if I can get one complete at the right price. And judging by what users here have been asking for theirs, I hope to be in the market in 5-7 years. The GTM is something I hope to one day cherish in my garage. At ease gentleman!

Ditto what Joe said. I too would be happy to take you for a ride. Joe's car has a different trans/engine set up than what I have so they should have a different feel. Joe has the top of the line Mendeola and the Vette engine, I run a head/cam small cube LS with the Porsche g50-01 trans.

What color car did you sit in, if Copper that was mine. I am on the Cape so not too far from you.

If you buy one and run into trouble building it, I am 20 minutes away in Norton.

The color of the car was maroon with Mendeola trans and not the G50 if I'm not mistaken

Haha yes Joe. I'm unsure if you remember me but I was the kid that obsessed over building a GT40. I've had a few convos in the past with yah

Yes I do. One of the best things about the GTM is the support you get from forum. It would have taken me so much longer to build with out this support.

Maybe you have a twin. I was up at Babson College at their car show and there was a young gentleman that was in love with the GT but loved the GTM because "it resembled it". He had to finish college and need to buy a car first. He was a good looking, well spoken Asian kid. He was majoring in accounting.

Well anyway, welcome to the forum, stick around and learn. It took me nearly 3 years from my first post (on the old site) to purchasing the kit. Without the family that is created here I might have lost interest or been still looking at an unfinished kit taking up space.

Oh, and one more thing, a well sorted GTM will walk a GT....Just say'n.
