I tried adding a photo to explain but couldn't work out how to do it!
Where can I get the rear wheel arch heat shields from? You know, the ones just behind the exhausts at the back. I have seen them on a few builds but never seen them for sale. I say a guy who put custom leather ones on his car but didn't like the look!
Thanks

Do you mean the fender guards(?) to protect from rock chips??
There was a thread recently, that a guy was making new ones from aluminum, I believe, but there were pricey.
I'll see if I can find the link.

FFR back in the day had some carbon fiber ones, they may have a set stached away somewhere.

They're commonly referred to as "spats"

I tried to order a set a few weeks back, and was told they are no longer available at FFR. Just wanted to share my result.
If I locate a current source, I will share it here...

Wayne at Very Cool Parts has them: http://www.verycoolparts.com/. They are not listed, but he has them. Call him. They are nice. http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/295799-aluminum-spats-update-2.html.
Also nice are some made by someone called Brian; hopefully someone here will remember how to get in touch with him.

I bought the clear 3M material on eBay, and used patterns discussed in this thread: http://www.ffcars.com/forums/17-factory-five-roadsters/292819-rock-guard-spats-pattern.html. Have enough material for several sets. Still have the first set on the Mk3.

Thats a good idea. Hadn't considered 3M.

Heat in the right place can help build horsepower. Hot exhaust flows out of your engine better than cooler exhaust. Exhaust header wrap and header blankets can increase your exhaust temperature and increase exhaust flow, helping you build power. JEGS carries several products to help you keep heat in your headers and out of your interior. When you have heat in the wrong place, use a heat shield kit or heat shield barriers to block or deflect heat. Check out JEGS Quiet Ride to insulate, sound deaden and protect your interior from heat. Choose heat shield products from: Dynamat, Moroso, Taylor, Thermo-Tec and more!

Good to know Bill but I wrongly worded the thread. It was the rear spats that I needed. I actually thought they were for heat protection but discovered they are merely to protect from rock chips! Shows you how much I know!
Thanks

Appreciate the offer. But I'm saving the material I have for (likely) a replacement set for the Mk3. They've been on there a couple seasons. Then a new set for my Mk4 build. Thanks anyway.

Spray it on yourself

I sprayed some of this on my front air dam. It went on real easy, and is invisible. I haven't been to the track yet, so I can't say how well it works at high speed.

I like the sound of this spray on 3M. Regular 3M film might be difficult to apply on all the curves on the front. It said if it's sprayed to thin or too thick you can get a dull finish - did you find it easy to get it right? How is it removed?

It was really easy to get it right. You spray on a fairly heavy coat and it will flow out on its own to make a smooth surface. In theory, you just peel it off.

I have a set if you need them. You can see them in my signature. I'm also a vendor on this forum.
