I know this might be sacriledge, but I've got a question that I'm hoping won't get me booted from this forum:) I've been looking at buying a FFR MK4 for some time, but I've got a beautiful Chevy BB FI 502 and Viper 6-speed transmission that needs a good home. Crazy, I know, but I'm wondering if that would be a good fit into the FFR MK4. I really hate to get rid of such a great engine, but I would also really love to start on the FFR.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Mike,

We do not have any engine mounts, trans mounts, headers, or supporting parts to make a 502 with a Viper T56 fit directly into a MK4. However, a Big Block Ford and Big Block Chevy are close in physical size, so I would think that it would dimensionally fit in the engine bay. The same should hold true for the Viper T56, as it is a similar size to the Mustang T56. You would need to fabricate things like engine mounts, headers, driveshaft, etc, but if you are willing to fabricate parts, or know someone who could fabricate for you, I think you could do it.

Thanks

Mike,

People have installed big block Chevy engine in our kits. It is not a direct bolt in job, but it will physically fit. You will need to fabricate engine mounts and headers. You will also have to make a driveshaft that will work with your set up. It also may be helpful to use the 4.6 foot box aluminum panels for your wider engine.

Best regards,

Brian @ FFR
