Will my project finally enjoying as few summer driving miles (OK it's November), I see I'm getting fuild coming out of the pumpkin rear's vent hose (have MkIV IRS - and hose exit is above the rear, too)...I filled the fluid originally from the upper most removable plug - but think maybe it should have been the one midway vertically up the rear - after seeing the mess after my initial outing, refilled from the upper plug again, and placed a baggie over the vent hose's exit (loosely so it could still breathe) and came back after another hour or so and see the bag is indeed illing with rear fluid oil again. Anybody have a picture of the fill plug location I should be using - Again, I think I'm over filled (when filling from the top plug, did stop as soon as fluid began to come out). Suggestion?

Thanks, Walter

It should never be more than half full

Walter,

I'm not sure which girdle you're using, but if it's the Ford Racing one that comes with the IRS completion kit from FFR, the installation instructions say:

"With axle housing installed, remove fill level plug (below RH side load bolt), fill rear axle with recommended lube from the upper hole in the girdle until fluid runs out of the fill level hole. Re-install plugs. Torque to 25 ft./lbs."

So, while you're filling from the top hole, the fluid level should only come to the fill level plug below the right side load bolt. I haven't figured out how to attach PDF docs in here, but if you search for "M-4033-G3," you should find it. Hope that helps.
