I've just started go-karting my Mk IV and am finding the transmission is "notchy" -- it's stiff when I shift gears, like the shifter teeth are not smooth, etc. Is this just "new transmission" behavior, or is there something wrong? I'm using a Coyote engine with the TKO-600.

T-600 is a very *****y trans. You need to make sure you are running syncromesh fluid and it will get better as it breaks in.

Hi David,
The new transmission you have has never been shifted before. I highly recommend driving your car on the jack stands for 10-15 minutes going through all the gears with the tires spinning. Upshifting and downshifting will loosen up a bit and will make a noticeable difference.
NOTE: The above statement is based on proper clutch setup and adjustment.

Hi Nut,
If the clutch is properly & adequately disengaged the TKO should shift clean. Can you tell me more about your clutch linkage, pedal setup, clutch along with engine?

Hi all,
Yes, the TKO600 is a notchy feeling transmission. mine was tight shifting when first new and started to loosen up around 1500 miles or so. The transmission does take a little bit more effort to shift than a T5 for sure. But i gues that is why the power rating is also doubled too. Love my TKO600 though

Sure Mike,
Ive got a 418W /530 flywheel Hp. Center force clutch, and TKO600. Mechanical linkage on clutch. Im not sure of pedal mfg. because Im not the builder.
It works good tho. Moderate effort.
I think the syncros must lag a little when the oil is cold. It's good when it warms up.

It sounds like I need to get more miles on the transmission, and make sure the clutch cable is adjusted correctly. Will report back!
