Has there been any updates on this model yet? I have been very reluctant to put my name down on the current model, even though I really love the looks and the soft top. Living in Colorado, it is very cold for a good chunk of the year and I have been hopeful that a hardtop coupe would be coming sooner rather than later.

No nothing yet. I'm hopeful that it'll be an add on to the current body. If not, I'll have to get a soft top.

That will likely be 818 #2 for me. I decided I just couldn't wait. :)

BBJ, look at it this way, if you order now your production date will be in Dec 2014 and might have a hard top by then:cool:

Does that mean FFR got sales from June-December 2014 as a result of SEMA? I thought the wait list only went as far as June 2014 before SEMA.

I would put a deposit down right now if FFR would allow me to switch to a coupe in a year or two if it came out. I would think they wouldn't mind, because I am technically guaranteed to still buy a car from them.

June production dates haven't been available since around late May or early June. Production dates for those subsequently placing an order (and who have posted their production date) continue to be around a year from the date the order was placed. So if you placed an order today, I would expect a Nov/Dec 2014 production date.

At SEMA Tony told me production dates were at the end of November before he left for Vegas and they were selling 5-6 per week. SEMA always generates sales. They are producing 5 a week so it's not reducing the backlog.

Just for reference, I ordered in October 2013 and got an October 2014 date.

Is it in the works? Sure. Is it at a point where the roof lines are locked in, the roll cage and roof structure settled, and a prototype welded up?
We're talking jig fabrication, molds for the panels, etc. Don't even know if the wind tunnel tests are scheduled, if yet.
Be patient, this isn't Magpul, we will know when things are really set and moving along, rather than some renderings that would only generate a lot of noise.
As for the styling comments, I have to remark that looking back at the introduction of the Daytone Coupe, it was another look alike exercise, really not much different than the Ferrari. When aerodynamics is the first priority, then airflow is key, and the results are forced into similar lines. It takes away a lot of discretion.
You want style, buy a mid '50s Detroit two door. Fins, grilles, rocket tail lights, chrome galore. Doesn't make it faster. Small jelly bean cars are. Adding the roof to the 818 is likely going to make it resemble the GTM. Basic laws of aerodynamics.
Someone post their rendering. Be advised, it will be critiqued, ya know.

This is your hardtop coupe with roll up windows.
ATS 2500GT. Even uses a turbocharged Subaru EJ25 with dual AVCS. Oh...but it costs as estimated $200k+

lol.....I wish, I haven't heard anything from Dave Smith since Feb. So I really have no clue what is going on over at FFR.

Put that roof on the 818 and I'd buy one!

I personally prefer Vmans air intakes instead of the small rear side windows on the ATS 2500GT. Hopefully FFR gets around to making your design sooner than later.
Great work Vman!!!

If they introduced a hardtop version tomorrow and everyone who claims that they would buy one did so it would turn the one year backlog into two years!
