Hey everyone:

My name is Carlos. I just joined the FFF and will be ordering my MK4 kit soon, once I figure out how much of my donor I will take out, and which options/accessories I will be getting from FFR and other vendors. I've been following FFR since 2003 and met Dave Smith in 2004. I have spoken with him in person on several occasions about the kits and the company, but have not been able to realize my dream of building my own kit for the last 10 years. I am in the US Coast Guard, and when I have not been stationed outside the US, or deployed catching "bad guys", something else in my personal life has kept me from ordering the kit. And although I am in the middle of tearing my motorcycle completely apart, to re-weld its broken frame, I'm tired of waiting for the right time to build my dream car. So I plan to order my FIRST kit before year's end. At this point, only death will keep me from realizing this dream. After 20 1/2 years of military service, and being a mechanic fixing other people's (and military's) mechanical equipment, it is time to reward myself. I hope to count on this forum's family for help in building this car. Thank you all in advance. I can't wait!!!

Thank you for your service. I'm a new member myself but have spent some time trolling these forums before signing up. My uncle has a F5 Roadster. Nice car. He got it used off some site partially completed. He tore it all apart and started from scratch. Took him about 2 years to complete and if I'm not mistaken his total investment was not much more than the kit cast from F5. Glories of buying someones failed project I guess. Candy apple red with gold stripes. 302 bored to a 306 with GT40 heads. Bucket seats and a nice set of chrome rims. Gorgeous.

Thank you all for the warm welcome. At this point, I'm still working on my motorcycle, but once I'm done repairing it, I'll start tearing down my donor and will order the kit. I plan to post updates, photos, and maybe even videos, from stripping down the donor to the final running product. Hopefully, I'll be able to start this project by year's end, and be done by end of summer.
