23240Making good progress "dieting" the harness from my '02 WRX. I can't identify the following part: originally mounted on the firewall - 2 inch X 1 inch rectangle - grey in color with a red LED light and ground wire, three other wires (one white, one white/black, one red) I would think this was some sort of aftermarket piece, but, the wiring looks OE. Also, on dismounting the wiring harness, I noticed a number of terminals that were not attached to anything. Can I assume these were for some options not ordered for this car and remove?

on the inside of the firewall? Sound like a shock sensor. Probably not original to the car, I don't think the OEM ones had LEDs.

It could be an electronic rust prevention box that most dealers sell (with all the promises and no intention of backing up). A photo of the box would help people identify it.

There was nothing like that on my 2002 WRX, sounds like aftermarket stuff. I would toss it if it were me.

Could be a lojack transmitter

I have that or it sure looks similar from our donor. FM amplifier maybe?
