Cleared the body on Wednesday, then took it out in the sun today at lunch. I have a little orange peel, but I also have all winter to sand and buff. My goal is to assemble and be on the road by March 1st.
This was my first attempt at painting a car. I think I read every post on the forums regarding body work and experiences others have had. I bought the HVLP Concourse gun from Eastwood, easily powered by a home compressor. Only requires 29 psi and 4 psi at the gun. The paint went down like a fine fog.

Paint looks great and think of what you saved. Unique use of the stripe pattern! What is the oblong hole for at the very bottom center of the rear cove?

Bill,
that's where I am mounting the Mini Cooper backup light.

D---, wish I would have thought of that. It is hard enough to see behind you in daylight never mind darkness. I'll bet that will help tremendously. I wonder if I could retrofit that? I've got all removeable panels inside of there. You'ld never reach it otherwise with the fuel tank in the way. Where did you get the light, at the dealers or at a dismantler and what was the cost?

Bill,
It's a pretty easy mod. It's outlined in the FAQ section on the other forum, under lighting.
when I bought mine new, it was about $40.00. Here's one on ebay, at $55.00. I'm sure you could do better. If I recall, I bought mine from a dealer that sold aftermarket Mini parts.

Rob, Bill, I bought one of these and tried to fit it in between the back of the body and the gas tank...I couldn't do it...plus even if I had gotten it in I'd never been able to replace the bulb. I have the Mustang tank with the cover if that makes any difference.

I used a pair of these reversing lights on my GT 40 in the Le Mans panels using custom made mounting brackets. I apologise for the poor quality shot but hopefully it shows how much space you're going to need to use one on the Coupe.
