Looking at Dynamat and Fatmat products for firewall/floor/door and trunk area sound deadening and heat insulation.
Anybody using this stuff?

I used a combination of Hushmat, Fatmat and EZ Cool insulation. In the footboxes and firewall I used Hushmat and EZCool. I also lined the heatshields with Hushmat. The rest of the car will get Fatmat or EZCool.

You can get Fatmat online for about 1/2 the price of the other brands. I have used it in three builds and it works great.

I used Dynamat Extreme and Dynaliner with great results on another project.
A good read on the principles at www.sounddeadenershowdown.com.

I used Lizard Skin on all hidden exterior areas such as the bottom of floorboards and tunnel. Went on aesily with foam brush and you could control the thickness. On the interior floor, trunk floor and sides, footboxes, sills etc I used Second Skin Audio Damplifier Pro which was peel and stick, easy to apply but be careful it sticks very well so you want to be sure you've got it in place correctly as it is tough to peel up. On the aluminum footbox shields which were spaced 1/2" from footboxes I used Kool Mat on the interior side of the shields between the shield and the aluminum of the footbox. Reportedly withstands up to 1100 degrees. Now, I've not driven on the roads yet but when running the engine for 1/2 to 3/4 hours on a hot day with only the fan to cool the engine while tuning it and checking for overheating, the interior of the footboxes were checked using a laser temperature indicater and the temperatures never went beyond the ambient air temperature which I believe was 80 degrees. So I do believe the added insulation worked OK. Once on the road time will tell, but I'm quite confident things will be OK.
