In honor of the daylight savings time change coming this week why not offer a great special on the air splitter.

The splitters do add some seat of the pants down force, more so from the adjustable unit. But the best thing about them is they look cool.

The air splitter comes in 2 flavors. Both are made from a steel substructure that is powder coated and then skinned with aluminum. There is a slight reverse airfoil in the skin. The non adjustable unit can be mounted flush with the grill opening or 2 inches recessed. The adjustable style tilts from 0º to 18º. All brackets are powder coated black and include stainless hardware.

I have the non adjustable normally $195 + shipping on sale for $175 + shipping. The adjustable unit is normally $240 + shipping and is on sale for $200 + shipping. All sale items are while supplies last. Order online through my store link. (http://www.darkwatercustoms.com/shopstart.php)

Here is a great personal testimony on the splitter. Also do a search on the forums and you will find many more pictures and feedback. After working with RButton on this I designed the adjustable splitter.

I have run an air dam on my car at both open track events as well as on the open road. It really does work! Holds the car down at highway speeds on the interstates. BUT ..
If you are driving the car mostly on the street in and out of gas stations, up your... oh so slight inclined driveway... and the development puts in speed bumps... the speed bumps will finally get the dam! :( Also I drive to open track events so carrying an air dam with me, to install was a possibility but being a little lazy.... was looking for a better solution.

Enter the Air Splitter! I knew a lot of air is going into the front of the car and I hoped that maybe this air splitter - kind of like an air plane wing - would work, for my daily driving.

At first you could barely know it was there. The angle was set for about 3 degrees of tilt. So I loosened (removed) the upper bolts and tipped the splitter a little more 5-6 degrees. Really locked down the lower bolts. Out for a cruise on an open part of the interstate. I could feel it starting to work.

Back to the shop and thought why not go for it so I tipped it to 12 degrees. It blocked off a little more of the radiator but the weather is no longer 100+ here, so headed out to play on the interstate. It worked you could now really feel the air splitter working no doubts!!

I think 5 degrees would be safe for daily driving in the heat of the summer, but tilting it more really will work. Keep am eye on your temp gauge though. I do not think it's as good as the air dam - best guess about 60% as good - but it's a lot better than nothing, IF you can't use an air dam.

I have a puller fan on my stock Mustang radiator. You will have to speak to them about a shorter one if you have the pusher fans.

Thank you DarkWaterCustoms for making the Splitter - I'm now ready for the drive to Calif in October!! smile.gif

I think that DWC is now going to open the holes on the brackets so you can easily set the splitter for 5 degrees.

Counting the days now till I'm on the road again heading for Calif!

After I got one I asked Chris if they could insrease the angle more. He has added more of an angle to the splitter now. He has also opened up the holes for the bracket more to allow additional adjustment. I have even gone beyond that and made a small bracket that will allow me to tip the splitter even more.

I posted some earlier comments that you MAY have to watch your temp gauge to know if you went too far - as you blocked too much air to the radiator.

I have one of those magnetic angle finders - from Home Depot - that I'm using to tell what the angle is. 3 degress and the splitter just starts working. 5-8 you know you can feel it working - 10-12 and speed runs now more stable - 15-18 degrees kool but with a slight rise in water temp - about 10 degrees on a 60 degree day.

Your results will vary this is only to get you some idea of what I have found with it on my car.

Air Dams really work well! This seems to be a nice solution for some of us that do not remember to take off the air dam when leaving the track event - and the enterance into the garage does it for you!

I had forgtotten about this post ... on my trip to Calif the air dam worked ... REALLY worked! Love them looooong open sections of I40 through NM and AZ! Crank it up and go!
No over heating problems either! I should mention that I have Russ's Radiator Fan Shroud installed! It does a great job of forcing the air through the radiator rather than over the radiator.
