Just wanted to say i am putting the deposit down on my coupe this week!
The 50/50 sale made it a must!
I plan on doing everything my self. Hope it works out ha-ha!
Quick question, I would ideally love to build 1 or 2 and sell them and keep
The 3rd for my self after learning what to do & not do (and to pay off the credit cards lol).
Are these things hard to sell if done
Correctly? And is it possible to actually make a few bucks? I can do all the
Engine machine work in house ( ase master machinest ) & plan to do / learn body work.
I am taping all my resources to do my dream, and am hoping i can maybe pay for
Some of my own labor in the chance of a sale.
THX for your time,
Jon

Welcome! Always nice to see new coupes being started.
I would guess that the market for these cars is quite small. You are going to have to pick your build plan very carefully if you want a good profit margin. A donor build is likely the most economical but may also be the least desirable on resale.
Good luck with the project and your long term plans.
Keep us posted.

I agree with Marc. If you are building to sell you may be disappointed, or have to wait a while making your ultimate goal a long awaited treasure. My interpretation of the Coupe is a more modern one, knowing that may hurt resale for people that like the original look.
Anyway I would build the first one the way you would like it incase the long term plan does not work out. At least you will have the car you always wanted.
Regardless of that welcome to the madness and post plenty of pictures!
John
build for yourself and skip the headache.
Enjoy and congrats!!!!

I will def build for me. Worst case i am stuck with my dream car ha ha.
It will be fairly modern, AC & efi that is.
Its hard to believe this isn't everyone's dream car! Lol
THX for the response, I will be sure to pop in and post my progress

If you're wanting to build them to earn money for your own, get a part time job. Hourly I would have made more as a WalMart greeter than I did when I sold my roadster. To me it's not about the money. On the other hand you do get to have fun, build a nice car and can drive it a couple of years and not cost you much or maybe even make a few dollars. It would be very difficult to that restoring a car of that era.

Before we actually ordered, we'd thought of doing that as well. At about 800-1,000 hours, including body work and paint, and $35-40,000 for basic parts and kit, you'd have to sell for $50-65K to make a reasonable profit as a part-time job. This is likely difficult too, as you'd need a high calibre build to reflect the price. On the other hand, if you want a hobby that breaks even, it is feasible, particularly if you can do everything yourself.

I agree with most here, just build it your way and enjoy it. I had more $$ into my car just in parts than what I sold it for but I also enjoyed the heck out of building/painting it along with driving it for about 9500 miles.
These cars don't lend themselves well to making a profit unless someone else is paying for your labor.

These guys are right. You won`t get rich building these and selling them. But then again you won't get hurt either on your investment. Look at it as money in the bank that you can drive and enjoy. Yeah and the 50/50 special hooked me too.
Best of luck!

Welcome.............if you buy right and work efficiently and do your own paint you can show a profit........probably about $30 /hour when your all done and sell it.
