View Full Version : 10,000 Miles
Hello everyone. It was a gorgeous day here in Calgary yesterday. A bit of frost on the ground in the morning but the forecast was 20C & sunny. I was very close to the 10,000 mile mark so so Tracy & I (with her new heated vest) took the back roads & headed for Banff. Hwy 1A from Cochrane Alberta to Canmore was fantastic! Twisty roads, no traffic & new pavement. What more can you ask for?

On the way we hit 10,000 miles.

As usual there are a couple of things that need tweeking over the winter. The rear springs have sagged (again). There is snow in the forecast for next week so she'll most likely be parked until spring.
Thank you to Dave Smith & everyone at FFR for a great product. Only 240,000 miles to go.
Take care.

Andrew,
Congrats on the milestone. What better way to enjoy it ... mountain roads with no traffic ... and someone to share it with.

Beautiful car, beautiful day. Hopefully be driving in the fall colors here in northwest Wisconsin next year. Due to get my complete kit in a few weeks. What color blue is that? Still haven't made up my mind yet, just jotting down ideas.

Nice ride you have! Congrats on the 10k. I have only 403 so I only need 9597 to get to your mark and then only 240k more!!! I'm tired just thinking about it.
Good luck with your roadster.
WEK.
Hello all. Thanks for the kind words.
Steve, the car is Lexus Indigo Ink. The guys at Ken's Custom Auto in Yuba City, CA did it. Great job. I love the colour (especially in the sun) but its hard to keep from looking dusty. I'd go with a lighter shade next time.
I'm very fortunate that my wife LOVES going for a road trip, especially now that I got her heated vest working. She doesn't get bent out of shape by the way her hair looks either. We're hoping to do the Lincoln Hwy once the kids are grown.
Take care.

Andrew-
Car looks great, and I bet you all have some beautiful driving this time of year. Glad to hear your bride enjoys riding with you as well. What can you tell us about the heated vest? This sounds interesting.
Thanks for your post, congratulations on the milestone, and enjoy that beautiful Roadster!
Regards,
Steve

He could be referring to one of these (http://www.milwaukeetool.com/power-tools/cordless/2331). That is what I first thought of when I read his post.

Heated vest looks interesting. I know heated seats are on the list for my wife. She has them in her Toyota fourunner and even I must admit they are nice with leather seats, especially in the winter. Any suggestions on where to purchase the heated seats?
Had the Indigo ink color jotted down from before, that means I liked it twice!

Thanks narkosys. I have never seen one of these before. It even plugs into the 12V outlet. Pretty interesting. Thanks for passing it along!

stevem: I know that for some Corbeau seats, heated seats is an option.

Hello Steve. I'm not sure what brand of heated vest it is. I'll look it up when I get home. I hard wired it to the cold side of the battery shut off. It plugs into the vest with a couple of cables that are behind the seat. This one has the option of plugging in heated gloves and/or heated pants. It was just above freezing when we left & after about a mile she turned the heat down to about 1/2. The ability to control the temp rather than all or none is great. I'll take a picture & post it when I get home.
I originally bought the heated seat inserts but decided to put them in my Mustang instead. That'll be one of this years winter projects.
Take care.

"What more could you ask for"
Well I just dropped off my MkIV in Calgary for paint on the 21st. So I'm asking for a shorter winter than last year and some blistering hot days next summer for the inaugural Icefields Parkway tour.
Hey Dave. Thats great. Where are you getting it painted? What colours? Or is that top secret? What part of Alberta are you living in?

Hi Andrew.
Tom Stevenson at Dunwell Auto Restorations is doing the body work and spraying the colour. We had talked about using the same colors as the covers on the Coyote but there's not enough contrast. So thinking about a light grey/silver base with same dark grey from the Coyote for the stripe. Expect it back in January for final assembly through the winter.
Currently in McMurray....I know...it's a long drive to the mountains.
What a fun project. Missing it already.
