Hi All:
I'd like to get some of the raw steel parts from my kit powder coated. Specifically I'd like to do the following parts:
(2) Door Frames
(2) Lower Shock Brackets that attach to front LCAs
(2) Front Spindle Brackets
(4) Rear Spindle Brackets (a "Front" and "Back" bracket on each rear spindle)
(1) Bracket that mounts shift cables to the transmission rear end
(1) Shift Rod Bracket
One route would be to buy the Eastwood powder coating kit and do it myself. That would entail spending $150 on the kit and dragging an old stove home from somewhere. And I'm still not sure that I could do the door frames myself. A straighter path to success for me is probably getting it done by a real powder coating shop.
Does anyone have an idea of what a fair price would be for a professional job?

Lots of variables there. Seems like powder coating prices are all over the map depending on the location. Color and how they prep is also a factor. (some places sand blast, others us a powder coating primer of some kind, some do nothing  ) I do all my own small stuff but have sent out larger pieces. Either way it's sandblasted. I'd say between $150 on the low side to $500 on the high, but I'd say $200 would be fair for a basic color like black. Again, lots of factors in play.

For what ever its worth I paid $100 for all my brackets, vent trim and door frames.

Of course, if you get the Eastwood kit and an old oven (toaster oven works well for small parts) you'll always have it for future products.
BTW, there are lots of places on the Interwebs where you can buy all kinds of powder by the pound. Some really nice colors and glosses that Eastwood doesn't carry.
There are some parts that I want to do in a super high gloss mirror black.

I paid ~ $250.00 for all of my parts that weren't already powerdercoated to be powdercoated, including all the panels, aluminum and steel parts. I found a shop that does powdercoating on a massive scale for large manufacturers in the Detroit area. I brought them the panels and parts pre-sanded and they just threw them on the coating line where they got a solution shower, then powdercoated. I had to be there at 6 in the moring with my stuff and pick it up on my way home from work, but for the price, who can beat it! they are down by the Ford Rouge plant. Maybe you can find someone like that around you? Be sure to tell them you're going to bring CLEAN and SANDED metal, hopefully they'll realize all they have to do is wash, coat, bake.
Anyone who wants the name of the guy, let me know and I'll PM it to you since he's not a supporting member.
Also a little tip... make sure to sand the markings off of the panels before powdercoating it with 500 grit sandpaper, otherwise you can still read it after the powdercoating is done. I tried lacquer thinner at first, which gets the markings off, but you can still read it after it gets powdercoated if you hold it at the right angle, sanding made it all go away and really didn;t take that much more time.

$200 for this. My friend works at a powdercoating place and got me a deal.
I think I had a total of 78 pieces.
