Anyone recommend a Fuel Pump and Mounting Location.

Would appreciate your input on which fuel pump to purchase. I have the Ron Francis Wiring Chassis Harness and a 4.6L 3V modular engine from a 2005 Mustang. The tank is from F5 and is the 87-93 one with sender and fuel filter that came with the kit. 22782

I know I need an inline fuel injected pump but would like suggestions as to where to mount the pump and whether the plug on the harness would just plug in or if it needs modifications.

I am using an in tank pump from Breeze and I think the RF wire harness plugs directly into it.

That's what I have for testing and it works great for mid range. I haven't pushed to see if it will starve at high rpms but that would be expected with a modified engine. Ford Racing offers a 190 lt/hr pump (#M-9407-C50). It is good for 540 hp. It fits the tank you have. The forum vendors probably have it or something comparable. As mentioned the in tank version has many advantages over an inline as there are factors in mounting, etc that can cause you problems. With the in tank most of those variables are taken out of the equation. Good luck, WEK.

I got the in-tank from Breeze like CHOTIS, but I decided on the 190LPH for a stock Coyote 5.0L instead of the 255LPH. Haven't started the engine yet, but it was a perfect fit in the tank, although I had to buy different quick-connectors than what came with the full FFR MKIV kit. As an engineer at a Detroit based OEM, I agree with Bill, the reasons to install the pump inside the tank are many - if you decide to mount it out of the tank, I recommend thinking long and hard about crash protection before you decide where to put it. Just my $.02

I am using the EZ EFI 2.0 System and for what it is worth they sell both an inline and in tank version but they highly recommend the in tank version for a variety of reasons. One of the very experienced members of our local club says that he has seen a much higher failure rate from inline pumps than ones installed in the tanks.

One of the requirements or warnings about using an inline pump is the need to locate "below" the tank to prevent losing prime (as I recall). When you start looking for that sweet spot on a roadster there are not any viable options that do not put the pump in danger of getting hit by road debris or a speed bump taken too quickly.

Go in tank I'm my humble view!

Check Amazon.com for the bracket, Spectra Premium SP237H Fuel Hanger Assembly (about $78 ), and fuel pump, BBK 1607 255 LPH In-Tank Electric Fuel Pump (about $140). The bracket comes with a stock connector and EFI pump but I don't know the spec on it. For your application it might be good enough. My Coyote requires 155 LPH min so I went with the BBK 1607. The pump comes with all the hardware to replace the stock one.
