Illinois allows "year of manufacture" display of plates on a car that is registered as an antique. Even better, a "substantial replica" can be registered as the year of car that it replicates. Since my FFR will be registered as a 1965, I'm going to get antique plates for it. The cool thing about the "year of manufacture" rule is that you don't actually register the old plates to the car... you just have to keep the actual plates in the car in case a police officer asks to see them.

So, I picked up this plate a while back and couldn't resist adding it to the bracket during mock-up today... it's a copy of what were on the SAI cars back in the day, including the 1965 registration sticker - I just need an expiration month decal. I know that mere mention of him elicits lots of reaction on these sites, but I think the plate adds a cool touch to the car.
