For the guys doing Coyote builds or anyone else that has more of a clue than me:confused:, what is your plan for the degas ports? Will you be adding an additional tank, plugging them or some other option?

Thanks for any thoughts you might have.

I'm planning on piping the coolant ports (4 of them) exactly the way they are stock, although I haven't decided on a tank yet. In addition, I bought the two heater hoses and brackets to get them under the cover and out the back of the engine. Since I'm not using a heater, I'll tee the two hoses together and use the location for the gauge temp sender. There is flow at all times through the heater hoses and it helps keep the head temps regulated if you cross connect them.

Hi Joe,

I also bought the hoses at your recomendation and I think the "T" in the back is the right solution. So with those 2 ports covered that leaves just the inlet and outlet to the radiator which makes up the for coolant ports, or are you counting the degas ports as coolant ports too?

There are 3 pipes to the degas tank. There's the fat one that's tee'd off the right side heater hose, the top radiator petcock gets replaced with a barb fitting, and the small (3/8") silver tube that sticks out above the 1.5" rubber hose. I have a diagram for them and I'll add that to my blog later. The degas tank has the pressure cap, too, so I will probably get one from Canton.

Here's an image from Ford's service manual.

The rumor mill has it that 4.6 engines have some head cooling issues. My thinking is that I should not fix something that Ford already spent millions developing. If they think I need 3 pipes going to the degas tank, who am I to second guess them? The car in the showroom has all the vacuum and extra cooling ports blocked, but my understanding is that car was only started once and has not been on the road.

Ford Racing says they might start selling (or including) the funky plastic fitting that holds the upper radiator hose to the bypass housing. That would eliminate the need to buy a $50 hose that might get cut up to make it more attractive.
