I plan on rebuilding the motor anyway. I want to start with a new strong motor. What are some signs the block is not rebuildable?? I know if it's cracked or something like that. What are some small problems that really indicate "don't buy"?
Thank you, Dru

Just recently there was a discussion that cracked timing belt covers are a big warning sign. A cam gear gets jammed, the belt jumps and internal damage happens fast. It's an interference engine (I.e. the valves and pistons will hit if not in time). Expensive fix: valves, valve guides, pistons, cylinder honing to start. If the donor price is very good, it may be worth it if the cost allows for an engine replacement, and the rest of the donor pieces are in good shape. So, watch the timing belt cover.

That is great advice and just what I was looking for.
Thank you, Dru
