I am seriouly considering an 818 kit, however, I am 6'4" and 240 lbs. I have built cars before and often after they are done my head sticks up above the windshield. I would like to see and possiibly sit in an 818 before I order one. Is there anyone on the West Coast that is willing to allow me to check out their car? Southern California would be great but I will travel if necessary.

I don't have mine yet, but when I do you are welcome to journey up to Oregon and check it out. There are at least a couple people in CA that would be closer, however, and I'd be surprised if they didn't let you check it out! ;)

There are a few 818's being assembled in Southern California. Check with Eric, he is building a electric powered 818.

I'm 6'6", 310 lbs, size 16 shoe. I sat in the 818 with GTM seats at this year's open house. I look through the windshield, not over:

The Kirkey seats are a little lower, and there is (or will be shortly, I don't know if it is on the options list yet) an option that will allow you to mount your seat back ~3" further:

I believe the 818S and R rollbars are the same height. You'll notice my head is a bit lower in the 818R, despite sitting more upright. If you angle it more your head would be even lower:

I am 6'3" and 240 lbs. I am building a 818 with the tall guy tank. I have tons of room in this car. More than my33.

Xusia, When do you expect your kit to arrive in Eugene?

Salem!! My home town! We should get together for a drink or something. :)

I can't say for sure. I'm on the hot list, so I literally could get a call/email any day. Based on what I've observed, though, chances seem good I could have it before Christmas. I'm really hoping for that since my company shuts down for a week during that time. It would be great to work on it. :)

If you don't mind me asking when did you place your order? I've been told recently that its a year wait for 818s now.

I managed businesses in Springfield and Eugene a few years back before I retired. I do miss hitting Papa's Soul Food & BBQ off Blair Blvd for lunch!

waruaki-

Wow, a one year wait, huh? Boy that's saying something! I think that is very good news for our cars and the future of our cars!

Good luck with your decision, and if you pull the trigger, best of luck with your build! I don't think you will be disapointed!

Regards,

Steve

Hi Westrope,

My kit is due for completion in two weeks. I'll be building in S.D. north county and you welcome to take a look. I'm just under 6', so will probably not need to use the slim tank.

Hi Westrope & Mifune,

My production date is 10/12 and Stewart will be delivering it; so hopefully I'll have it in hand by the end of the month. I'm currently moving to Encinitas (which has put a damper on my final donor parts prep work!), but the build is in a garage in San Marcos. I'll let you know when I have it in hand.

Tuna et al, if you're in SD, you're welcome to go by EV West and check out my chassis that we are working on. It's in San Marcos. I'll be there tomorrow as well. I will have a seat there for fitment as we begin the EV layout and motor install.

Thanks! I have bit of a driveway to get up that I'm sure Stewart's truck can't negotiate, so I may need some help getting it in place.

I just looked up EV West... they're literally just a few miles away from my office in Carlsbad (off Palomar Airport Rd)! I'll definitely stop by; probably next week. Erik, should I call ahead?

EDIT*** Oops- I was confused when you mentioned "Production Date" I think you meant delivery date...

My 818R is on the truck with yours (or someone else who lives in Encinitas). Is yours being delivered tomorrow or Sat? They told me Sat or Sunday when I called them on Monday.

Sure, I would call ahead. I'm moving the car back and forth based on the phases of the build. I'll be there today working if you happen to get away.

Are you going with an AC motor or DC?

Don't have a delivery date from Stewart yet... today was the kit completion date at FFR. I haven't heard of an 818 heading to Encinitas here on the forum... I'll have to find it!

Well, it won't be on the truck with mine, which loaded today. The driver told me that my car will be the last one off on this load, and Minnesota is the farthest they are traveling. Of course, they do have two trailers that are set up for FFR's. Stewart has been stacked up a bit though. Mine is about a week later loading than it was supposed to.... Likely delivery date for me, according to the driver, is next Friday......:)

Don't be afraid to call Jolene at Stewart. She should be able to tell you about when yours will be loading.

FYI... Stewart is expecting to deliver my kit sometime next weekend 10/25-10/27. I appreciate all the offers for help, and I'll be in touch with those of you who have been so kind.

Thanks,
