Attended what will probably be the last car show of the year yesterday. Running out of shows and warm weather. I'd heard about this show for several years as it's one of the larger in the area, and managed to finally attend. The show is about 45 miles from my house, so a pretty chilly drive up (in the 40's) and only slightly warmer (50's) driving home. Supposedly there were around 1,400 cars, although I can't verify that. There were two very large areas with lots to see though. While I'm not necessarily a huge fan of judged shows, I did like the fact that they had a lot of classes including a specific hand built sports class. So I was looking forward to being in a class with my peers. What's different in this show (at least for me) is that you get judged on the way in. After completing the registration process, they send you to a location where your class is judged. When I arrived, the judges spent a few minutes looking over my Mk3. Then took the judging sheet and wrote "concours" across it and told me to go a specific location. Later I found out this meant I was being given a "best in class" award along with a number of other concours winners. At the award ceremony, received the concours trophy and found that another Cobra received first place in the hand built sports class. Never saw it so don't know anything about it.

It was a fun show with lots of traffic and lots of good conversations. Continue to be impressed with the attention these cars draw and the good reputation that Factory Five has. Talked to a few guys that had builds underway, and another guy that had a '33 in the show. Gave away a few of my Factory Five brochures. Also didn't receive a single "Is it real?" question. That's a first. But then neither did the guy next to me with an awesome but totally fiberglass Willys coupe. It was a little funny driving home. There's a stretch of about 20 miles where I had to drive on the interstate. I passed many of the cars from the show while driving only a little over the legal limit (really) in the left lane. Seems that many of the 50's and 60's cruisers while cool are not the highway bruisers they used to be. Reminded me how great it was to have a show worthy car that I can drive quite normally. The odometer turned 3,000 miles on the way home. Not bad for my second season. Unfortunately it may be ending soon. You warm weather guys are lucky.

I was really hoping for the tall trophy though. (Actually most looked like this...)

Thanks for resurrecting this thread and reminding of just a few months ago when it was warm and my Mk3 wasn't in winter storage. Cold and snow in the forecast for this weekend. :(

But to your question, no there weren't any taller trophies.
