I've done quite a bit of searching and I cant find the answers to a lot of my transaxle questions. Mainly what are the available options...what are the benefits and drawbacks of each option and what are the costs associated to complete each option.

I am mainly interested in the Porsche G50 variants and which are viable...what is needed to complete and install with them and what type of power can though each hold ect.

Same for the Mendeola...what is the cost of the unit that FFR has had commissioned and is it available now. What does it hold for power?

It would be nice if everyone could chime in and then there would be a thread easily searchable for those who are interested and having trouble finding answers.

If I somehow missed a thread like this I apologize.

It might be helpful to know a few things first before any of the more qualified forum members can give you some reasonably correct information.

For example:

What type/style of driving will you do with your GTM? (take into account if you have a tendency to have a pedal to the metal kind of attitude, or are you one to gently go down the road)

What gear ratios are you looking for?

What wheel and tire size do you want to run?

How much HP will your engine produce?

How much money do you plan budget for your transaxle?

Do you want just the transaxle or the whole kit and caboodle?

Do you have to have six speeds or is five speeds enough?

Do you want limited slip?

Do you want cable shift?

I think that should get you going on some finding answers

Well Ron pretty much covered all of the questions I would ask someone looking for a transaxle. I would be happy to answer all of your questions and then some, feel free to give me a call and we can discuss you options in detail.

Wow. As much as this has been asked about, it seems that something would have come up in your searches. I know that I have trouble getting hits on a search from time to time. But Ron has outlined the best starter questions that I've seen posted so far. And Erik and others like him are your absolute best sources for correct information.

For Mendeola information, you can call Ian at Mendeola at 619-710-8800 ex.110. I'd be happy to relate our experiences with the Mendeola product, but the best way to get the info you seek about the Mendeola is to talk to them directly. They have quite a few options, all their stuff is BRAND NEW, and the accessories can all be low cost OEM bolt ons. All at a price that is slightly more than the Porsche G50, but with substantially greater capabilities. The one drawback, which I believe everyone has experienced so far with Mendeola, is lead time. For some it has taken 9 months+ to get the transaxle they ordered. I spoke with both Ian and Mike Mendeola about two weeks ago about this and they are currently building up stock of required components and have about 30 boxes currently being built, so the lead time issues should be addressed shortly and hopefully in short order one will be able to place an order for a transaxle and have it show up in less than 30 days. All new parts, custom geared, and built to your specific requirements.

Again, give Ian a call. He'll treat you right.

Thanks for the kind words Mike, I appreciate it. As always I am here to help in anyway I can. I very much enjoy working with GTM builders and look forward to a continued great relationship with the community.

For example:

What type/style of driving will you do with your GTM? (take into account if you have a tendency to have a pedal to the metal kind of attitude, or are you one to gently go down the road)

What gear ratios are you looking for? - Tall gears....I think the 930 4speed really interests me

What wheel and tire size do you want to run? - 345's out back or close to it...I plan to buy the wheels FFR sells. I like the look

How much HP will your engine produce? - 400whp at first but I am a turbo guy so who knows...I think I want a legitimate 9.xx street car. My current car has 10.xx power and I love the pull but want a little more

How much money do you plan budget for your transaxle? - Well I dont actually know...as little as possible to get exactly what I need and want

Do you want just the transaxle or the whole kit and caboodle? - Seems like there are common sense options for a car of this caliber. I want it to feel like a 100k car so if some bells and whistles need be added then so be it. Cable shift for example

Do you have to have six speeds or is five speeds enough? 5 speed is plenty and a 4 speed would be fine as well with v8 torque.

Do you want limited slip? Not entirely sure

Do you want cable shift? Yes

I think that should get you going on some finding answers

Ron

My cars are basically street weapons although I did do an HPDE this year and loved it. I would say 99% street use and only 2500 miles a year ...just a summer weekend car to pound the hell out of every chance I get
