I am having a hard time figuring out what is the correct way to mount the seat belts in place given my challenge car build. (see pics). No issue with the lower belts, but the 2 shoulder belts are giving me concern. The problems are:

1) I only have 1 bracket on which to mount 1 of the 2 shoulder belts to (the blue bar is the rollbar).

2) With the seat mounted, the seat back slots for the shoulder belts are higher then the body of the car, and much higher then the slots in aluminum back plate!

I have read a lot on how the shoulder belts must to be at the right height to not get spine compression in an accident, twisiting, chafing, etc. I don't want to take any chances mounting these incorrectly for saftey concerns.

Any ideas on how to mount these sholder belts to the frame correctly?

That looks like an older model (possibly MKII or III) that had one connection point and the shoulder belts were in a 'Y' to connect to that point.

Looks to me like someone cut or ground off the other tab. You can see the slot in the aluminum where the tab should come up on the outside of the existing tab. Hope that makes sense?

So those mounts won't work for the shoulder harness, what I did was to weld in new cross bars, the shoulder straps then wrap around the bar and give the right angle to avoid compression. You can see the cross bars in this pic which are behind the seats

This is a new Mk IV chassis. Not sure why they removed that tab when it looks like there was space for it.

Thanks for the pic! Nice racer!
That's what I was afraid of since I'm not a welder (yet!). Any bolt on solutions you can think of, or is welding in this section the only solution?

You are going to run into problems if you put them anywhere else. Suggest you look for a roll cage builder in your area or a welder that could weld in the tubing should be under $120

I welded in a bar for the seatbelt. Its actually better to do so as the seatbelt angle when using a HANS device is better.

I thought FFR was putting this bar in all the new chassis?

Gordon Levy did a great job welding mine in.

Yes there is a lower bar, but its too low and will not clear the body when threading through the seat back holes. The rear deck of the body is in the way!

The body and aluminum behind the seat will have to be trimmed to clearance the belts.

I didn't want to hack into the body any have the belts come out the top of the rear deck!
This would be the only place to make the +/- 10 deg work on my seat and 6ft frame.
