FYI- I found a manufacturer for Aluminum fuel cells (FIA FT3 Cert-1999) that most likely will just fit in behind the seat just like the stock tank. The bonus, these have the FIA certified bladders/foam in them. They are tapered like the stock tank.
Dimensions (A x B x C x D).
D and A are the bottom floor dimensions/ B is the height/ C is the top, tapered width.
14 gallon 42 x 10 x 7 x 10
16 gallon (#1) 48 x 10 x 7 x 10
16 gallon (#2) 36 x 12 x 7 x 12
Once I get my kit (I should have it Mid Oct), and take my own measurements, they will modify the tank for me for a perfect fit it the ones above do not work. The price will be around $1000. More $ with an in cell fuel pump. They also offer fuel sender options as well.
I'll keep this thread updated, as it is a good safety option for all 818 builders.

I agree.
Tnx for that.

Are we sure that FFR won't be including a fuel cell with the 818R? I seem to recall that they include one with the Spec Racer kit.

I believe you are correct, Turboguy; I was up at FFR a couple of weeks ago and, in going over the 818R with the techs, there will be a behind the seat fuel cell with the R (the prototype has it in the passenger's space), and it was not on the options list when I bought then all of my options. (I purchased all the optional equipment while I was there.)

If it is included, this will be the first I heard about it.

I measured the pocket for the gas tank behind the seat. It is 11" by 47.25.
16 gallon (#1) 48 x 10 x 7 x 10 is to long and no easy way to make it fit.
16 gallon (#2) 36 x 12 x 7 x 12 will fit if you raise the front edge an inch to sit on top the rear seat mount bar.

Well, just like the pricing of the spec racer compared to the standard roadster, the 818R is more than the 818S so I figured there would be extra competition-related items included in it as well.

I just got an email from Dan at F5- The 818R only includes the regular gas tank that is in the S. So I will whole heartily be pursuing this endeavor. I'll keep everyone updated.
