Hey there Everyone,
So I have been working on putting together the Audi R8 gearbox kit for the GTM and have finalized the numbers. The kit ends up with a similar cost to the high end Porsche gearbox options but with far better strength, durability, as well as much better gearing. Here is what you get.
New from Audi Factory R8 gearbox with Limited Slip Differential.
New Audi Clutch kit complete
New Flywheel
New Ring Gear
New Adaptor kit to LS engine
New Custom made over-drive gear set to move gearing taller to closely match the Ford GT ratios
Bolt Kit
New Cable Shift assy.
$21,500.00 total plus shipping.
Please keep in mind that every single component to this kit is brand new, hence the pricing.
I am sorry about the delay in getting this information out to everyone. We appreciate your business and look forward to earning more of it in the future.
Check out the gearing charts as well so that you can see the difference that the over drive gear makes.

Do you have a price with the stock gearing?

Hi Scott,
The cost drops by $3000.00 without the custom gear change.
Thanks for the question, anything else I can answer for you?

I cant help myself but to say that its crazy to invest so so much money into a transaxle setup. I would much rather take my chances on something pulled out of a porsche..

in his defense, it's BRAND NEW, and capable of holding whatever you can throw at it. the guys at underground racing here in charlotte, n.c. are putting !500hp through it in gallardos. theses transaxles will have plenty of parts and serviceability down the road also because of the high production numbers. not for everyone, but cool to have a new transaxle that strong available for those who want it.

...or even a BRAND NEW Mendeola for less than half the price?
Only thing I am thinking that might make these transaxles worth the money is if they are a true paddle shift setup with the controlling computer included? I don't know everything, or even much, about the Gallardo Lambos, but aren't all these paddle shifted and have no clutch pedal?

there's a manual and a version with the module for the e-tronic. (iirc) how much for the mendeola that can take that much hp in a six speed?

If I ever get my GTMR finished, maybe we'll find out! LOL!

The Audi transaxle option is pretty nice even without the custom gearing. I know people want a 6 speed bc new cars have it, but unless you care about the last bit of efficiency and an EPA rating, the big torque of an ls motor make the number of gears purely aesthetic .
I can pull a 220 mph 5 gear from 45 mph so i only needed a two speed. 1st from 0 to 60 ( for the bragging 0-60 times of course) the another gear to use for top speed the other bragging number.
Thank you Eric for supplying the community with options all over the price spectrum. With mendiola and guys like Eric we can build our cars exactly how we want.
I agonized about my choice of transaxle. In hind sight you really can't go wrong. You get the thing that fits your dream and budget. I guarantee your going to love driving the car what ever option you pick.

It is nice to have options. There are some out there with the ability to buy what ever the want regardless the price tag. Fran is offering that transaxle (without the change in gearing) for around $10K to his existing customers. I would much rather stick with the origonal gearing at around that price tag.

To put this into the correct context. The gearbox alone is right around $10,000.00 and perhaps I would have a bit more interest if I had simply said hey here you go 10K, but we all know the reality, which is it is NOT just the gearbox that you are going to need. There are several other parts that go along with it. So rather than give the impression that you have can have it all for 10K which, sorry to say in the R8 gearbox you can not, I would rather have everyone know what the real cost at the end of the day is going to be.
Thanks for the comments
