I've been searching and I see there are issues with the 351 and wedges may help some....I don't think it'll work in my case. Looking for suggestions.

I have an FE. The passenger sidepipe fits perfect! The driver side sits high and really close to the body. I could just enlarge the body cutout, but that would make the drivers side sit about 2" higher then the passenger side, and about 2" farther out from the body than the passenger side.

-I thought about moving the engine to the passenger side, but the driver side header sits 1/4" from the motor mount.

-If I take 2" off the header it'll will get the sidepipe closer to the body, but will make it sit even higher.

-if I shorten the sidepipe (reweld the flange after removing a couple inches), I'll still have it sitting higher than the passenger side.

Thoughts? Am I stuck with the positioning?

It's all in the motor mounts. Just a slight adjustment at the mounts will move the header flanges more than you think in the up and down position. Start there and get it as close as you can, then you can clearance the body if neaded.

frankeesi is correct....but you might need a wedge on the pass. side to get them both acceptable them..............HTH

Thanks, I'll try that. Where do I get the wedge?

I'm going to try loosening everything tonight and see if I can shift it a little.

First two are wedges, third one is a spacer. Start small and then go bigger.

Hi Blate Tony @ffr there right if you move the motor it will make a huge difference ...if your a little off you can use the spacers from breeze auto they work great!

Thanks guys, I was able to shift the motor a little and now both headers basically line up to the holes. My valve cover now touches the footbox, but that's probably the nature of the big motor. The driver sidepipe still sticks out about 2-2.5" further than the passanger side. I'm going to take the header off and take out the difference in the straight tubes behind the collector flange. The hard part is getting to the back bolts in the header, looks like I'll make an access panel in the footbox.

Once all of that's done, I can determine if I need to angle it to match the other side.....whew
