Alright, I have made up my mind, finally, on which build I am doing first. I have chosen the MK4 over the '33, the '33 will have to wait another couple of years unless by that time I have decided to build the GTM. Anyway, I was wondering about the Engine Factory. Who has an engine from them? Are you satisfied with it? Does it run and sound great? Have you had any problems with the engine? If so how was Engine Factory support? They have an engine and transmission package, has anyone gone that route? Any info you can divulge I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks,

Chris

I bought an Engine factory 400HP 350 chevy for my Vette 2 years ago. Great motor and great support. I highly recommend them. IMO.

Chris,

I've bought a lot of stuff from Mike Forte (forum vendor) over the years. Great service and excellent service after the sale. Mike knows exactly what you need for Factory Five cars as he is a long time vendor and can supply complete drivetrain packages. Breeze is another longtime forum vendor that sells complete drivetrain packages. Not taking anything away from Engine Factory, just giving you some more options.

Sorry you couldn't make it up to RA this weekend. JL1958 stopped by on Saturday. Lovely lady with a lovely car.

I would buy an engine from one of the supporting forum vendors

2FAST4U,

Could you be a little more specific? Just because someone is a forum vendor does not mean they make their product better than someone who is not a vendor. I'm sorry I am not trying to be smart with you, I just want to know why you say that?

respectfully,

Chris

The supporting vendors know the nuances of these cars and knows what fits and what works well. Pricing is usually competetive too, so give them some consideration too. Best to check out all your options..then decide.

I purchased my engine from Engine Factory and have been happy with their service. I heard about them on this forum from their advertising, so I assume they are a forum vendor.

hrosenthal, they are temporarily off the site but I expect them to be back later this week.

Pirate, supporting vendors help to keep this site alive so we ask that you consider them for your build parts or for services they provide that relate to the build. Investing in them help to maintain a strong cottage industry surrounding Factory Five and that in turn helps to keep the whole community healthy.

Hey Chris, we are pro builders of these cars and build specialty engines customer specific.

I have never bought a engine from Gordon, but have bought other stuff for my Roadster and have called him countless times for advise. Everytime he picks up and helps me through every problem I have ever called him about.

I have had a great experience with The Engine Factory. They have worked closely with Pro-M Racing so as to setup and program their engine management system (ECU) for the initial program. Just got pics of the almost finished motor last night and have a G-Force T-5 waiting for its marriage:

Guys, let's keep this thread about Engine Factory please. We are in the process of bringing them back as a Supporting Vendor.

Thanks,

:)

My experience is as follows.
I bought a 351W 400hp engine from them.
they were very responsive to my questions and sent pictures and videos of my engine via email. +
I received the engine, installed it and soon noticed something was wrong. It simply wasn't performing well and was making funny noises. to make a long story short, they had put aluminum roller rocker arms in instead of steel and because of that my push rods kept breaking.
My car broke down in the middle of the road. -
I called them and they sent me parts for me to replace the push rods and rocker arms. I did. However the ones I didn't replace kept breaking.
I had to remove the engine, send it back to them, for them to replace the rocker arms, and then send it back to me. At their expense.
my engine seems to be just fine now (except my starter seems to make a funny noise sometimes when I try to start it).

It was a bit frustrating at times but they were responsive and ultimately solved the problem. I will leave it up to you to decide what my experience means.

I'm excited to let you all to know that The Engine Factory is BACK as a supporting vendor. We ran into a little bottleneck on my part that took some resolving, but we're all good now.

Carry on!

I would much prefer to buy from an engine builder rather than an engine assembler.

Garry,
I live in Sandy Springs and am planning to start building within the year. I noticed you have a 422" from Southern Automotive. Is that the same 406 with a 428 crank that I've been talking with Bill Parham about? It sounds like a great choice but am curious about what your experience has been. Likes, dislikes, advice - all would be welcomed. Have you had it dynoed? What's that show? What's your carburation set-up? Etc. Thanks so much in advance for all you can share. Appreciate it!
Also, please let me know if you'd be kind enough to let me see your car and engine at some convenient time.

Check out Performance Automotive Customs also. They are on the vendor menu.

Fwiw, my experience with miked forte was very positive. Not only good engine advice, but a lot of other small bits and pieces to make the build go smooth. He knows the whole car. I did a package deal. Engine, tranny, clutch, rear diff, brakes, etc. So it went together pretty easy.
