I got a new toy today which I thought you guys might enjoy, so I thought I'd kick off a new thread.
"Show us your Man Toy"
No, this is not an invite to post up portraits of your 'tackle' thanks guys.
To help keep us all focused, note that I've posted this in the Roadster forum, so it has to be related to your build.
To kick us off, my new toy arrived today.

I'm 6'3 and can stand underneath without knocking my melon.
Struggled to pick up a tool today. But I moved the chassis up and down about 10 times.
What do they say about small things and small minds.

I think you win Chris. I don't know if they'll let us have one of those in the states. Big brother knows it's only a matter of time before someone says "hold my beer" and lifts a 2500 Dodge Cumins diesel......then 30 people get under it for shade......then they fill the bed with water for a "hot tub".....and last but not least they bring out their "Momma" and she gets crushed, (happens every time). Soooo, thats why we don't get the really cool stuff:(...daBat

The thread isn't supposed to be about the cars...
If Alex wanted to stay on topic he coulda posted this, for example...

The only rules are it has to be about your build ... doesn't say which build :p

Hi Rob
Not sure if they are anything new but its a mobile single post lift with moveable arms. I'd seen a few with the rigid arms but they don't allow us to pick up our roadsters by the 4" tubes. With this one the arms allow you to I just don't have the room for a 4 poster and this gives me the ability to store it away when not in use. I went with a single phase motor so I can move it around anywhere in the shop. Also the arms will rotate inward so I can pick up the roadster easily with both sets of arms reaching inward or can have one set wide apart and one narrow to pick up the '33. Best thing for me is that I can set it at any height which is saving on the back pain at night for sure.
Chris,
How about some info on that lift.
Rob
And to continue on with the theme of the thread. How's about this new one. This might be a challenge for those guys not quite finished their build. For those who are a little puzzled there is a little hint below
http://i1178.photobucket.com/albums/x375/ChrisCanning17/Tool_zpsea877ae8.jpg (http://s1178.photobucket.com/user/ChrisCanning17/media/Tool_zpsea877ae8.jpg.html)
There could be an argument made for it to be a standard inclusion in all the kits............except the 818....oops did I just give it away or what......

Chris,
I would guess is involves a Chevy motor of sorts. Or you've gone to the dark side and bought a ready to drive HSV taxi. If it isn't the HSV ready to drive taxi then, I thought you were only ever going to put a 427 in one if you ever got around to building one. 427's never came out in the HSV range IIRC.
Also what is the minimum height of the jacking points and arms of the hoist, as all of my cars except for the wifes car only have 100mm clearance (4" for those that work in imperial still). What is its SWL and how does it lock at working height? Finally the thousand dollar question "How much and where from?"
You should start a build thread on the cars you build including the latest one, to show people the hoops that you go through and what it takes to get one passed in Western Australia. It may drum up some local business if people see that it can be done.
Thanks

Ok the key ring must have thrown everyone.
Its a 3mm panel gapping tool cut from a washer.
Used it on the 33 works great. Cost nothing.....FFR give ya a few spare washers here and there....

Chris, that did throw me. I was concentrating on the jaguar/alien symbol on the other part of the key ring. Thought it was some Myan/Aztec thing but could not make the connection. That's clever. I plan on gapping my doors, hood, trunk pretty soon so I will have to fab one. Thanks, WEK.

My ceiling is only 100 inches so I am going to punch through the ceiling to utilize some of the additional 22 inches in the insulation space. The two poster I'm getting is short enough to allow that. I won't get the full 72 inch clearance under the car but by creating a "tray ceiling" (for the wind screen and roll bars) I could get 64 inches of underneath space. That's definitely better than laying under the jacked up roadster. I'll have to see if it is worth the extra work to get the extra room underneath the car. That single poster is pretty cool and portable on top of it!
Didn't realize until I finished the roadster (at least got it on the road Not Finished), that a lift is almost an necessity rather than a luxury to really be able to do all the maintenance and after project modifications.

Finally got shipment of my 2 poster lift. After man handling it off the truck (1500 lbs), I have been disassembling the package and planning the install in my 8 ft garage (actually 100 inches). So I have the two posts placed. There will have to be a ceiling modification to make this work as I mentioned above. But at least I won't be jacking and crawling any more. Check it out.

I was looking at the Holden keyring too. That is a sweet lift.
For those that don't know, Holden is a GM brand down under. The "new" Pontiac GTO a few years ago was a Holden Monaro with a Pontiac nose.
