The Ageless Avengers of Orange County are planning to cruise to the USS IOWA Sunday, October 20th, and all reading this are invited.

There is a fairly large open space directly in front of the ship that can accommodate 20+ parked sports cars. Additional cars will be parked in the large lot in front of the ship for $1/hr.
Group Rate tickets for 20+ are as follows:
Adults (18-61): $16
Military/Senior (62+): $13
Youth (6-17): $8
Tour Guides: $75/each (max. 1:25 ratio)

From casual conversations last May twenty-plus individuals expressed an interest in the cruise-in and tour and more will also want to join in. The suggestion is to group with others in your area and cruise together to the ship. Plan to arrive at 9:30am to park and assemble for photos and the group tours (which begin at 10). Everyone is welcome and bring your car.

Post here if you plan to join us and state how many will be with you. See you on the 20th.

Folks-

If you have never been on one of our four Iowa class Battleships, I highly encourage you to do so. They are absolutely remarkable vessels. It is hard to go onboard one and not feel the history and bravery of the Sailors who served aboard her. Even though the technology is ancient (the relatively recent -- 25 years ago -- Tomahawk and Phalanx CIWS additions notwithstanding), it is astonishing what power these ships possessed. If you have an ounce of patriotism, you will swell with pride at these proud warships! I really encourage you to try and find time in your schedule if it allows; you will not soon forget!

OK, I am now off my soap box, please forgive my intrusion. You all enjoy the Iowa!!

Regards,

Steve

Today, ten roadsters, one coupe, and one very nice late-model Corvette gathered at the USS Iowa this morning. Of course, the cars were a big hit with preferred parking adjacent to the entry. For two hours we wandered in and around the ship. The experience should be on everyone's bucket list.

Here are a few pics taken by Rebeca Barnes of the day's activities. Thanks Becky.
More pics are on the other forum.
