View Full Version : Hydraulic clutch problem

Last weekend I was driving around the neighborhood continuing with my shakedown period. I approached a stop sign to turn left and pressed the clutch in to shift to first. the pedal did not return. As it turns out the piston in the slave cylinder over extended and popped out of the cylinder, dislocated. I pulled the slave off, checked for any major galling and reinstalled followed by a system bleed. Before this happened, as the clutch has started to break in, it has become harder and harder to get in reverse. Now that this happened and I have re-assembled everything, I basically cannot get in reverse without gear grinding. This tells me that the slave is not engaging far enough, but I am concerned about the piston popping out again. What other adjustments can I make? Is it possible that my pivot ball for the clutch fork is off one direction or another? What about changing the MC or slave bore size? Otherwise I guess it is just preload on the bearing? If so how much?

Something else maybe I am missing?

My equipment:
1" Wilwood MC
3/4" Wilwood slave
Forte bracket and pieces
TKO 600
RAM pressure plate and clutch
Ford Racing TB, Fork.
Quicktime bellhousing- has an adjustable pivot ball.

Thanks!
Alex

It sounds like there is to much initial play You will have to make sure there is just a bit more than zero play. this should allow the trans to go into gear.
after that you have a second problem and that is you need a pedal stop to make sure you do not over extend the slave again.
Hope this helps

I have read several threads in the last year or so where they discussed MC and slave diameters but don't remember the numbers. Search here and on the other forum.
