View Full Version : Roadster - Jacking Points

When it comes time to jack up the roadster, are there any approved jacking points?

I would imagine that jacking is permitted under the big 4" round tubes, but anywhere else? What about say under the 2" square tubing that that runs out from the main chassis tubes to the sides near the front of the doors?

I have heard some say this is OK, but does Factory Five have a position on this? It would be good to know I can put a simple jack under the edge of the car to jack it up if I need to get at the wheels.

Thanks

I have a low jack and always use the 4" round tube or the rear end pumpkin if I want to raise the rear end.

Can you jack on the IRS pumpkin too? I've heard yes, but was always hesitant. (I'm assuming the prior post was a straight axle reference).

Hello again - any FFR representatives able to weigh in on this?

Thanks

4" tubes only for frame locations

Hi Jethrow,

The 4" tubes are of course a good idea, but it's also just fine to use any 2" square tubes on the outriggers (under the doors). Another very common lifting point is under the center of the rear axle housing, and you can also put a jack under the lower front arm's shock mount if you want. Those last two will allow you to get the car off the ground but still have a loaded suspension, which may prove helpful in some situations.

To comment on MPTech's question: The IRS center should be fine as a lifting point, too.

Thx Jason,

this is the answer I was hoping to hear.

I'm new here so maybe this is stupid - but aren't the quick jack bumpers supposed to be the designed jack points for the car?

Quick jacks are just for show. Not enough structure for jacking, just there to hold the body on. Couple of threads on this.

[edit] I was thinking the same thing when I started, but the forums are a wealth of knowledge.

That's correct - the quick jacks are not for lifting - lots of other points on the chassis for that.

The quick jacks are replicas :)
