For those of you that have the engine installed:

How much room between the front-most part of the engine and the 2" cross-members? I'm thinking of hanging the ABS control module off the X members and measuring from the motor mount brackets forward, it may be a tight fit. Battery will be in the trunk.

Thanks, Dale

I'm trying to get up to speed on the Coyote engine, and I stumbled upon a great resource, that puts it all in perspective. This may not directly answer your questions, but it may give you enough information to interpolate.

These two links, from a very informative article in Hot Rod Magazine, give you about all the information you will ever need to know.

Dale,

I measure 9 inches from the 2 inch round x-tubes to the front crank pulley (farthest forward point on Coyote)- plenty of room

My coyote is fully installed and car is on the road (now in for paint)

Good luck

Thanks Jester.

The way I have the ABS module mounted, there will be 1/2" clearance from the ABS wire harness loom. I think I'll leave it alone for now and see if there is an issue when I test fit the engine to position the FPR and a few other items. If it does not work, I'll relocate as per Greg-M's build (I'll have to redo the MC-to-ABS brake lines...ughh!).

Wish I'd had this dimension earlier, but hopefully it'll work out and Murphy won't rear its ugly head.

I had my engine very early in the build to allow for mods and proper fit of all brake and fuel lines, foot box mods, engine height, trans A brace, trans height, wiring, control module, O2 sensors, DBW gas pedal etc, etc,. If stock 302, the engine could wait, however with the Coyote, you need early on in the build for fit and adjustment.

I went with stock brakes and manual steering as per various discussions on the forum (build as FFR designed before too many mods). Stock Brakes are great and manual steering is sensitive and very responsive (I like being able to feel exactly what the car is doing). I may upgrade to PS at some point but no plans at this point.

Good luck

Jester, did you go with the 1/2" motor mount spacers from Whitby (I think it is Whitby)?

Dale

I made my own engine mount spacers out of 3/8 aluminum stock and trans spacers out of 1 1/4 aluminum stock. The trans spacer is required for proper shifter height. Not difficult to fab the spacers
