Hi all, this one tip, periodically, can spare you a whole lot of trouble down the road. We love these cars and are so excited to get in them and drive with all the gusto we can muster. Well, a few safety checks before you ride may be a good idea. As I said above, THIS SAFETY TIP MAY SAVE YOU A WHOLE LOT OF TROUBLE. (http://www.kentuckycobraclub.com/node/3407)

Froggy-
That was a tad scary! However, thank you for sharing a common sense tip that can save a whole lot more than our cars. I am going to add it to my maintenance schedule to perform this check with every tire rotation. Thanks!
Regards,
Steve

This was an issue with the IRS on my coupe. I finally solved it by Loctite as well as "double nutting". Mine was almost that loose when I finally figured out what the issue was. I had just had the coupe on a chassis dyno for some tuning. The drive back to my garage was so scary I only hit about 30 mph. Jacked up the rear and the wheel wobbled badly, just like the video. Since then, I've got about 10,000 plus miles, including multiple track weekends and no recurrence of the issue.

Yeah! I have to agree with you. That is so basic some people just assume that won't fail. My replacement hubs in the front of my roadster looked and felt great but I still broke them down and re-greased and reassembled both. Every time I lift the car, I check the way the guy in the video did (just habit). Could save you a lot of money and even more. Good tip! Thank you, WEK.

Checking things regularly is never a bad idea.

I have had that happen on my car. I found it because I drive on a four lane to work and one morning I noticed that every time I would accelerate the car would crab. The loose hub would go to a toe in position under acceleration, moving the rear of the car over a couple of inches. Those nuts are one time use item also.
Very good tip for the IRS crowd!
