a couple of the hole in the engine are 7/16th but my holes in the water pump are just a little to small to fit them. Should I just enlarge the holes on the water pump to fit them? Those holes for the bolts on the water pump are just a tad to small to fit the 7/16th size that's on the engine.

I have a 410W engine and the standard rotation Ford Racing water pump and had no issues with the holes in the water pump. All of the bolts were 5/16" of various lengths. All fit through the water pump with absolutely no problems.
The holes in the timing cover may be a little large but the threaded holes in the engine should all be the same.

I have had several water pumps and never had to enlarge the holes in the pump to match the block. Take it back.

BINGO!!! the holes on the timing cover are larger than the holes on the engine block!!! I just need to get longer bolts. Once again showing how little I know and how great this forum and the people on it are. I wouldn't have a chance of building this car if it wasn't for the support. Thank you Ron.

I had posted a few threads about the water pump bolts myself. The bolts that came with the ARP set that the engine builder used weren't the right lengths. I bought another set and they weren't the right length either. I ended up using a length of 5/16" threaded rod and screwed it into each hole to determine the length and bought a matching set of individual bolts. Of course, the lengths of some of the bolts will depend on the type of alternator mounts you are using.

Someone make a water pump installation pack with all of the correct length bolts, I just can't remember who.

Late Model Restoration carries water pump and front cover bolt and stud sets.

It is not ARP by the way. They make great stuff , but missed several on my front setup. They even have a note in the set that says to call and they will get you what you need. Ford has had many iterations of their front setup.
After my pulley kit, I needed one extra bolt.
