Hi All,

I'm seriously considering building a GTM, looks like a great car and also a great project to work on for several years.

Looking for some advice / thoughts on a few things. I've done some searching around but just wanted to hear what people who've done this before thought.

First, I was thinking of something like this for engine:
http://www.mastmotorsports.com/2010/product-view.php?cat=Black%20Label%20Brand%20Engines&id=156
Any issues come to mind?

Second, is Vintage Air pretty much 'the' A/C to use? And as far as traction control goes, is Racelogic a decent option?

Also, anyone ever thought of getting the rear to lift in one piece? (Like the DDR car: http://www.flickr.com/photos/63724961@N04/9002359775/).

Finally, is it worth a trip down to FFR to check them out? (I'd be coming from Canada).

Thanks in advance!

IMO, you can build an engine with that same power output for less than that. Call Aaron at texas speed or Martin Smallwood at Tick performance. They will be able to point you in the right direction. The Vintage air is the way to go on the A/C. It's an already proven solution That works on the GTM. For the price is not worth trying to reinvent the wheel on the A/C department. Racelogic its an excellent option for traction control and launch control. IIRC there has been one GTM That has been modified to a one piece rear lift. I believe the user that did its was Thomas142. Do a search about it. Visiting FFR is definitely one cool trip if you can make it there. Welcome to the community.

I have the Mast Motorsports Black Label LSX and Racelogic. I went with the wet sump motor as I was not going to be doing any serious road racing and didnt need to spend all the extra money on the Oil system. If you go wet sump I think they drop the price by $4,000. The motor is installed but not running yet. Mast has a great motor, it comes with its own custom made computer, that so easy to work with. I didnt want to use the GM computers so Mast was a great fit for me. If you going to be running that kind of power the Racelogic is a must have. There was a group buy a few weeks ago on here or the other forum.

I have a Mast motor as well. Very happy with the setup.

Its worth the trip to factory five to see the GTM in person unless you can find a closer option. The time and money investment to visit Factory Five is trivial compared to your time investment to build a GTM.

I don’t have traction control with 630hp 520 ft lbs and its fine even in the rain. Get it if you want it, but its not hard to control the power in my opinion. You need to respect the power is all. I don’t like traction control or ABS in general. They take the danger out of the equation. I like danger so take my comments with a grain of salt.

Regarding body mods and mods in general . Anything can be done if you have the skill or money.

Its really hard to use greater then 400 hp on the street. You are going so fast so quickly. You are breaking the law before you get out of first gear. Maybe where you live there is plenty of open road, but you will need it in order to use the power. That said I would be happy to have 200 more HP in my GTM. The GTM is a dream car so put your dream motor in it who cares how practical it is.

Spend some time searching the forum and you will learn a lot.

I put in the RL traction control. A very good unit. I put it in for me (a novice), but also for when I want to let someone else drive. You can always turn it off with a twist of the knob. :)

Thats a good point. It can always be turned off. And its a great feature for others driving the car. You may not need it, but traction control may save your friend from wraping the GTM around a tree.

Welcome to the forum. I think that you will find a wealth of knowledge here.

Let me know when you are ready to consider the transaxle options available. I will be happy to give some insight to you on that front.
