Having a problem with the rear shock upper mount on our Roadster.

We are using the 4 link rear suspension from a 1988 Mustang. Something is not right with the upper mount bracket on the chassis. The hole for the upper shock stud seams to be too far in. Can not fit the rubber bushing and washer in because the location of the hole.

Any ideas on what to do?

Here are a couple of pictures.

Yes was the same on mine before I upgraded to Koni. You need to cut the washer and the rubber just enough to make it fit.

Cheers

This shock thing is bugging me. Can any of you that have installed the Koni shocks on the rear of your MKIV with 4 link, give me the part number of the Koni shock you used? I need to look up the specs on it and cross reference it to a regualr shock with the same upper and lower mounts.

Harold,

I think they are talking about upgrading to coil over shocks which will not help you. The konis I've seen are mounted with the bolt horizontally (I think I'm right on this). That completely takes the vertical mounting out of the equation. I have to admit, the coil over shocks take a lot of complication out of the rear suspension mounting. Good luck, WEK.
