View Full Version : Took my FFR (at least most of it) to a local cruise night

One of the towns near us does a very nice weekly cruise night behind the old turn-of-the-last-century courthouse and, tonight, my wife wanted to take her Camaro. Well, I've had enough of riding b**ch in her car, so I decided it was time to take the FFR to one of these events.
Took it into town on the trailer, but offloaded a block away and go-karted it in - made quite an entrance. I couldn't sit down all evening as it was non-stop questions. Some of the most popular were: "is it a Factory Five?" and "I never knew these were so nice under the skin."
Lots of people thanked me for bringing it out so they could see what makes these cars so special and quite a few parents used it as a way to teach there kids a thing or two about cars.
Here it is hiding behind my wife's car:

Chris,
Get used to it, the Camaro will soon become invisible and people will flock around your Roadster.

Both your roadster and the Camaro are icons of the era. So I'm sure there will be very interesting discussions around the cars when you show them off together and the roadster has it's body on. As I remember, the car companies started detuning their muscle car offerings on paper (66 or 67). Yeah, I'd love to be there to hear some of those conversations. Great to see the gokart on the road. Good luck, WEK.

I think it is great for people to see an FFR without the skin. It shows that it is a well engineered replica, not a bad reputaion "kit car".
Congrats on the go-cart.
That is one beautiful Camaro.

So far, most of the conversations between me and Mrs. Gumball go like this: Her - "isn't 396 bigger than 347?" Me - "yes, dear."
Couple more pics of her ride:
What a heavy lump of engine:

Chris,
Great pics. I think that folks will certainly develop more respect for all the work that goes into your roadster now that they saw the go kart.
The big question will be how are you going to convince Mrs. Gumball to stay in her Camaro and out of your roadster!!

That's very true. That Camaro has three pedals so Mrs. Gumball is not "shiftless"! Beware, Gumball! WEK.

We have a show in my Hometown in a few weeks. Hope to have our car ready for it as a roller by then to show it off the same way.

She took her mom for ice cream in it the other day and reported that the first thing her mom said when she got in was "why is it shaking so much." That will forever be known as the day my mother-in-law's little girl explained high performance cams to her... I couldn't be more proud.
