I have a MSD 85805 mechanical advance distributor. If my distributor is mechanical advance, does that effect the type of carb I get? Should it also be the same, not vacuum advance? Do I need a ignition box? Do I need a ignition coil? As you can see I am getting out of my comfort zone, don't know much about this stuff so thanks for any help, just dumb it up for me.....lol.

The dist advance does not effect the carb type.
Either way, you want mechanical secondaries on your carb. Vacuum secondaries do not work well with cars this light.

You will need an ignition box and coil. Punch in your part number at Summit and suggested parts will also pop up.

I disagree on the vacuum secondary carb, you can change the spring to work better on lighter cars like ours. A well tuned vacuum secondary 4150 with electric choke is a nice street performer. See my more detailed answer on the other forum too.

You will need an ignition box (MSD 5520) and a coil to go along with the distributor. You will get a lot of discussion here on carburators (Vacume vs Mechanical) the bottom line is that they both will work. I have a Holley 670 Street Avenger on my 427w and followed the Holley instructions to change the spring in choke. Like Mark says, the lighter spring changed everything.

The MSD 5520 is recomended for that MSD distributor. MSD also makes coils if you want everything to match, but not necessary.
