Seriously, just open a savings account. That way it's still there for an EMERGENCY.

It takes a LITTLE more discipline not to withdraw on a whim, but not much...

Not that I know of. Set up your own by depositing a set amount into a savings account each month.

Not sure if they consider it layaway, but you can give them a deposit with no completion date, then give them money every time you have some extra and when you get close you can have them build the kit. Thats what I did anyways
