Some cars store the odometer reading in the gauge cluster and some in a body control module. How do the WRX's do it?
If it is in the cluster then is there a way to reset it for the "new" 818?
If it is in the body control module will there be some kind of a replacement to keep track of mileage since I don't think we would be reusing the body control module?

I'm sure FFR has a solution, but I just haven't been able to find any details on it. If anyone can shed some light on the subject I would appreciate it.

Stored in the cluster. It can be reset but you need the proper connections and software.

Are we allowed by Federal Law to do so?

Going to reset mine to 0 once I scrap the frame of the donor car. I don't see a reason why you couldn't reset the cluster. I am not titling my 818 as a 2005 Subaru WRX. In MD it will be a 2014 Factory 5 818.

Ok, so that's how it works.
Makes sense.

Are these readily available? Due to fraud concerns, I imagine perhaps not. I'd be willing to ship mine a pay a few bucks to have it done.

I don't know off hand who does it or what they charge.

I called that company that was supposed to do it, they said they can't because we are still using used donor parts as our running gear.
