MARIAH

Adventure begins tomorrow morning sometime after O-DARK-30. Four days of Interstates up the Appalachian chain, across into NY and then Rt, 2 in Maine over to the border.
Scheduled last July but rescheduled because of one of South Carolina’s less observant drivers sent us to the ER. So here we go again. Probably leaving the computer behind…..no room anyway, so updates will come later!!!
In our 63,000 miles she has taken us on quite a few Adventures. Sunsets in Key West, NC’s Ocracoke Island and Cape Cod. In the Michigan LP and UP it was the Sleeping Bear Dunes, scratching out Petoskey Stones in the lake surf, Black Cherries right off the tree and the St Ignace Car Show. In Wisconsin it was Pancakes and Sausage at a fair every back road in Door County and a chance to leave the hardtop in the camp ground for a Drive In Movie and oh so much more!
Always the same though. In the FFR. A destination we have never been before. 14-20 days if we can hold out. Camping gear stowed because it isn’t an Adventure if you can’t spend a couple of nights under the stars. No Reservations. Few plans. Just the two of us and MARIAH on an Adventure.
Long before the FFR, I was intrigued by the ferry from Maine to NS and thought, what an adventure that would be. Sadly, that ferry is no longer running and we’ve decided to take the roads around anyway. The Fundy Tides certainly. Cape Breton most certainly. Meat Cove because we like to go to the END. Lobster frequently. No big cities. Just small towns and shoreline. Beyond that it will all be an adventure. Probably about 4000 miles before we get back into SC.
New rear tires yesterday so we’ll have max tread depth. New brakes all around, new radio and hookups for Kay’s music and headphones. New Hushmat in the hardtop for temperature and noise reduction (yea Right!!).
Just the basics, clothes, suitcase on the luggage rack, dome tent, full size air mattress/air pump, two sleeping bags, two pillows, small cooler, few extra tools, coffee pot, small stove and extra fuel, frying pan, plates, bowls, useful utensils, roll of paper towels, books for when the other is driving, music for when we are driving slowly, Passports and all the Canadian stuff, two coffee mugs, extra sun screen and bug spray, 1 qt motor oil, jumper cables, one of Mike’s clutch cables, a few things to clean her up if we stumble into a show, Rain-X, rain suits, towel beside each seat, maps / brochures from here to there and back.
No departure photo, but trust me, MARIAH is packed to the gills. See you when we return…………………WaaaHooo!
