View Full Version : Alternator Dash Light
I've looked through numerous threads and am slightly confused. My alternator is the one wire variety. Does that mean the 1/2 watt 510 ohm resistor is not needed to bridge the leads on the red dash light? All I need to do is connect the two wires and I'm done?

Most one-wire alternators do not have provisions for a dash warning light. You'll simply have to use the volt meter gauge in the dash and keep an eye on it (or use an aftermarket gauge you can program for low voltage warning)...

It is my understanding that if you use just a light you will need the resistor if the light happens to burn out your alternator keeps on charging. So no light use the resistor. If you use the light you need it for a fail safe.

I do have the Factory Five volt meter. So skip the light...makes sense.

My setup does not have a dash light and I second-guessed installing one, but it's running fine, so I'll probably leave it as-is.
