Does anyone have photos of how they mounted their batteries in the front of the vehicle instead of the rear?
Thanks

Breeze Automotive battery box is a good option. See http://mk4build.com/manual/doku.php?id=battery_box for photo

I put the Breeze kit in just about every car I build.

Another satisfied Breeze customer. Even though it's stainless steel, I powder coated mine black to match the chassis. The battery is just a standard Group 51 from Farm & Fleet that I dressed up with some Lucas decals and some fake filler caps.

Just put the Breeze battery box in my Mk4 build a few weeks ago. Perfect. Powder coated it black as well.

Another vote for Breeze's solution.
Btw, I used his battery mounting box in both my cobra and my RCR SLC. :D

whats the difference from having it in the front or in the rear? Three reasons I can think of: Shorter power cables (a pretty big deal), moves weight from back to front where it's needed, and saves room in the trunk if using the stock location. There are some hidden battery mods for the trunk, but depends on what rear suspension you're using.
Mark has some other points on his website: http://www.breezeautomotive.com/details.php?prod_id=518

Everything edwardb said plus better accessibility and it stays cooler. My car is rear weight-biased, even with the front mount battery. It's the original battery from 2007. I can't imagine why anyone would put the battery in the trunk.

Improves weight distribution a tiny bit. I put it over the passenger foot box, which helps corner weights and front/rear balance.

Where do you mount the oil filter relocator if you use the Breeze battery box on a Mk4 please? Also , how hard is it to secure the battery box on the round x-members?

Can't comment about the oil filter relocator. No experience. But the Breeze battery box to the round x-members is a non-issue. My installation pictured in post #6 above is a Mk4 with round tubes. Mark includes a comment or two about it in the instructions, and installs fine.

There's no good reason to use the filter relocater. If your using J pipes just get an Explorer 90 degree adapter. 4 into 4 headers don't need it.

Thanks guys - am planning to go with the Breeze kit and will check out the 90 degree adapter!

I messed up. Figured w/ a welder and some angle iron etc I could make my own front mount for the battery. Ok, so I did, but I wish I had just ordered the Breeze piece because it's better design and is well made.
